Design of large, rear screened-in outdoor room and grilling porch for previous project we built. Skylit, vaulted ceiling with cedar columns, beams and railing and earth-friendly ipe decking.

Inman Park attic renovation and expansion providing for exercise and reading lofts, master bath, his and her closets, and master bedroom featuring shed roof dormers for added natural light, air, views and floorspace. Complete renovation of kitchen. New solar water heating unit, high efficiency heating and cooling, closed and open cell foam insulation. Design breezed through Inman Park neighborhood historical review.

1342 Iverson (part 2)

Design and Construction for finish out of basement of house we previously built. Accommodating a wine room, full bath, entertainment room and workout/music studio/chess room. Sort of a modernized arts and crafts/loft style with naturally finished, reclaimed heart pine floors and maple trim. Custom metal shelves, cabinet, chess table and rolling door. Replaced original hvac with high efficiency, zoned system.

1435 Benning

Candler Park addition and renovation adding a new front porch entry and on the rear, a new laundry/mud room, expanded kitchen, master bedroom, bath and screened in porch. Foam insulation in the attic and high efficiency electric water heater added.

1874 Wildwood

Design for addition(s) to accommodate expanded master suite, living/entertainment/sun room, pantry, home office, guest suite, decks and reworked existing full bath.

715 Sherwood

Addtion to Morningside Spanish Colonial Revival adding a master bath, master closet/laundry room, clay tile floored rear entry courtyard and covered porch. Fully renovated kitchen with vaulted ceiling highlighted by dark, stained cedar beams and new hardwood floors. Reworked entry and front facade with dark stained beams, large arched doors and windows, clay tile flooring and redesigned entry stairs. New and replaced energy efficient and style appropriate windows. Money saving foam insulation.

777 Vedado

Major upkeep and rejuvenation of a great house in the Piedmont Park neighborhood.  Kitchen and breakfast area redo, front porch and stairs replaced, master bedroom balcony redone, needed roof, siding and trim repairs and painting, foam insulation in the attic, basement and encapsulation of the crawl, high efficiency hvac systems throughout and tankless gas water heater.

491 Hardendorf

Major renovation reworking and transforming a Lake Claire house that just did not work for the clients in it's existing form. House sits on a steep sloping site that presented challenges but allowed for a lower rear patio, a main floor grilling porch and screened in outdoor living room with an almost tree house like feeling and small second floor balcony off the master bedroom. Plan combines the kitchen, dining and den areas which allows for gatherings of family and friends. Dark stained custom wood cabinetry and trim work in a simplified arts and crafts style are highlights throughout the interior. Stained cedar beam and columns along with granite base and chimney highlight the exterior. Environmentally responsible practices include foam insulation, rubberized house wrap alternative, all new windows, solar water heating, plumbing for future use of captured rainwater for flushing toilets and irrigation.

1211 Fairview

Started as an interesting redesign and renovation of an existing bath. As project progressed a needed first floor full bath was added to the scope and carved out of a large butler's pantry space that was not being fully utilized. An existing closet door modified with a panel of privacy glass, a transom and pair of high interior windows were used to maintain the quality and amount of light in the remaining corridor from the kitchen to the sitting room and stairwell.

Four Oaks, Alabama

An unrealized project for an Atlanta couple looking to build a home for their retirement. It will be on a working farm that will provide them with many of their food needs - from cattle, honey, fruit and garden vegetables to hunted game. A highly customized plan providing for his and her private studies and a double height, clerestory lit, open kitchen, living and dining space intended for gatherings of family and friends. The design takes from the local vernacular of farm houses and out buildings with it's native stone base, board and batten siding and modified hip roofs. The intent was for a home that is dramatic, provides for great views of and from it while residing on the site without dominating it.
